Ride with West Point Cycles

We all know it's been a tough few years since COVID hit, with one silver lining being that so many people across the globe turned to cycling to get through the pandemic - yourself included! We settled for solo and socially-distant riding, and now we're beyond excited to announce that West Point Cycles' group rides are back, and we'd love to have you join us.

Happening on Wednesday evenings in July, join us for some fun, summer road cycling. These will be no-drop rides - meaning if you fall behind, we will hold up until everyone is together again. This event is free of charge - please RSVP so we have a better sense of numbers.

Dates:

  • Wednesday, July 6, 6:30pm
  • Wednesday, July 20, 6:30pm

This event is for our novice level road rides starting at our East 2nd and Main St. location.

Hope to see you then!

BC Day Supported Ride - Mon, August 1 2022

Date and time
Mon, August 1 2022
9:15 AM – 6:00 PM

Location
Campbell Valley Regional Park
20285 8th Avenue
Langley, BC V2Z 1W2

Cost
$25 registration fee
Optional additional $25 lunch ticket

Our first supported group ride of 2022 will take place on Monday, August 1st through the beautiful country roads of Abbotsford. Come ride a wonderful community of cyclists and take advantage of our support vehicle, refreshment tables, and pre-ordered lunches!

The start and end points of the ride will be at the parking lot in Campbell Valley Regional Park (with plenty of parking and washrooms). We’ll begin our security briefing at 9:45am and roll out at 10:00am. We’ll ride through Langley into Abbotsford along the quiet country roads surrounded by mountains.

There are two route options. The first is a longer 128km route that does an extra loop (and a bit of a climb!) up into Yarrow. The second 116km route option follows the first option, but does not include the loop into Yarrow. The routes can be viewed on our Strava:

The event will go ahead rain or shine and is a no drop ride. We look forward to riding with you!

What's included:

  • The $25 registration fee covers basic costs for the event, and includes light snacks and refreshments.
  • The additional $25 lunch ticket includes a catered lunch from a local company that will be provided to cyclists during our halfway lunch pit stop.

Lunch:

Lunches will be delivered to the designated pit stop. Snack/water tables will be set up at two locations along the route. The lunch options are as follows (subject to change or substitutions):

  • Appetizer: Hummus Cup with Cherry Tomatoes (GF available)
  • Entree options: Salami and Ham Baguette, Chicken Salad Wrap, or Falafel Wrap (GF and Vegan)
  • Dessert options: Lemon Ginger Cookie (GF), Chocolate Chip Cookie, Banana Bread (GF and Vegan)

Although we will do our best to adhere to your dietary restrictions, we may reach out if there is a situation we are unable to accommodate.

If you do not want to purchase a lunch ticket, you are welcome to bring your own lunch that we will carry for you and bring to the lunch stop.

Ride Schedule:

  • 9:15am - Check-in begins at the Campbell Valley Regional parking lot.
  • 9:45am - Security and route briefing, all ride participants must be present. Self-seeding into appropriate pace groups.
  • 10:00am - Roll out.
  • 12:30pm - 3:00pm - Lunch break at the Yarrow Sportsfield.
  • 6:00pm - Wrap up at Campbell Valley Regional parking lot.

Checking in and signing out:

Once again, we ask that you sign in at the start of the ride, that you check your name off the list at lunch, and that you sign out at the end of the ride. We'll also provide the phone numbers of the support vehicle drivers.

**Purchasing travel insurance with emergency medical coverage for the day is recommended.**
