Brompton C Line Original design refined for modern cities The original design with the 3-part fold, hand-made in our London factory since 1975. Compact, robust - a serious folding bike that’s fun to ride. Although C Line is built to stand up to the rigours of everyday city life, owners have taken them on round-the-world trips, country tours, and even to the South Pole. But mostly they are used in cities 364 days a year (we recommend a day off for an annual service). Over 40-years refinement Although continuously enhanced, the basic concept of the classic all-steel bike has remained the same – a solid city rider that folds down small. Every change, since the start, has offered genuine benefits to our owners. It's never been about trends. Today, with its refined geometry and improved parts, not only does the bike ride and fold better than ever but the quality is better too. Specialists, such as our steel brazers and wheel builders, focus their expertise on one area - crafting the best bike possible. Engineered by us, made for you Built to last and quality assured in our London factory. Every Brompton frame is individually numbered and comes with a registered 7-year warranty. Find the right model for you. Some things just stand out. Think of a famous building. There’s a good chance we’d guess it in five. And that’s not because its architect set out to be memorable – after all, most of them agree that form follows function. It’s the same here: if you ask the nearest cyclist to name a folding bike, one name comes to mind. As British as a red double decker bus, as international as a yellow taxi cab. But more useful – and more portable – than both combined. The C Line is the bike that started it all. In 1975, engineer Andrew Ritchie set out with the conviction that there was a better way to move around the city. He already knew that the humble bicycle was the best way to get where you’re going – but its function could be improved. A real-life magic carpet ride. A bike that goes everywhere with you, no hassle, no stress. Brompton – and the classic C Line – was born. Reliable, comfortable steel frame, robust equipment, all in a compact folding design. Made to unlock your city, and the world. Nothing folds like a Brompton. The C Line folding bike captures the same fun-to-ride, go-anywhere feeling it always has. With a new rear hub designed ground-up to accommodate the new compact 4-speed gear set. Tested on a purpose-made rig and fired with mud, water and sand for hundreds of hours. This wheelset stands up to the abuse of the city. Now fitted with hex key axles and a new hanger mount, so removing them for roadside repairs or maintenance is quick and easy. The Brompton Bike The Brompton bike is made for those that live, work or play in cities. Folding to a third of its size and weighing on average just 11kg for a standard model, the Brompton bike is easy to carry and easy to store. Take it on all forms of transport –rush-hour trains, in the boot of the car or the local taxi boat. When folded, a Brompton stays locked together, making an extremely compact package, a little larger than its wheels. The vulnerable parts, like lights and cable-runs, are folded out of harm's way, and the oily chain and gears are kept away from clothing and luggage. The Brompton can be carried like a small suitcase using the frame or saddle as a handle. And it can be pushed or towed easily on the small roller wheels. On trains and buses it tucks neatly into luggage space (it is welcome on most public transport). It can be cycled to the airport and checked in as a luggage (and taken in the cabin on some airlines) – it's great to ride at the other end. It goes in cars, on yachts, behind the pilot's seat of a single-prop, in caravans and on narrowboats. Brompton's are taken on trips as frequently as they take their owners on journeys.
